Another URL shortener bites the dust

I’ve decided to take jmp.li down. The code behind it is open source, and I’m open to offers for the domain name. Existing short URLs will continue to resolve for a while but I don’t plan to do any more maintenance on the site.

Why? It’s mostly being used for spam and porn URLs, and that’s not a service I want to provide. I have no interest in marketing the service to compete with the likes of tinyurl.com, bit.ly and the other established sites.

New year, new site

Yes, I know it’s March now, but we’ve been busy! :)

This new design replaces an off-the-shelf site that didn’t in any way reflect the nature and ethos of the company. This new site is completely different, and we hope you like it. There are a few more changes yet to be made, but the old site was depressing us so we pushed this out as soon as we could.

Let us know what you think.

TwitApps on 37signals’ blog

Matt didn’t use all of my answers to his questions, so in case anyone’s interested I thought I’d post them here.

Twitter-related domains for sale

I’ve been holding on to a bunch of domain names with plans for all of them, but I’ve decided that I’m unlikely to ever get around to using them, so I’ve decided to put them up for sale.

Rather than use an auction site I’ll be accepting offers by email on stuart at 3ft9 dot com until the end of July. The highest offer at midnight for each of the domains on August 1st, 2010 will win. Anyone making a bid will receive an email notifying them if they’re outbid. If people end up fighting for any of the domains I’ll continue to take bids into August until there’s only one bidder left.

TwitApps shutting down

Please retweet this so everyone who uses TwitApps finds out this is happening. Thanks.

It is with some regret that I am announcing that I will be shutting TwitApps down at the end of this month. I would like to say this has been a difficult decision but that’s not accurate.

New website

Welcome to the new 3ft9 website. Prior to this we had a simple site with very little information and limited interaction features. This new site changes all that. Please let us know what you think so we can improve it where necessary.
